Vitamin D intake: Sun or Supplement?

Surfing is an incredibly fun recreational sport and an excellent way to top up on vitamin D. However, as the body can only absorb a limited amount of vitamin D through the skin, increasing your sun exposure does not necessarily increase vitamin D levels, but it can substantially increase your skin cancer risk. Additionally most food sources contain little to no vitamin D. Taking a vitamin D supplement can be a good way to boost your vitamin D levels and optimise your health and wellbeing without increasing your skin cancer risk.
