Camping offers a chance to socialise, escape from work-related stress and the harms of digital technology, increase physical activity, and get some fresh air and sunshine.

Interestingly a study published in 2014 showed that preteens who spent 5 days in a nature camp without access to screen-based media or digital communication demonstrated improved emotional and social intelligence, compared to a group of controls. After 5 days, the nature camp participants restricted from screen time demonstrated significantly better recognition of nonverbal emotional and social cues than those who continued screen time.
